Chief Rabbinate of Israel Kashrus Update 17/20/21

The following is a synopsis of the above report, which was released in Hebrew.

Non-kosher meat marked “Angus beef” and labeled “kosher” was confiscated by Kosher Inspections of the Chief Rabbinate Kosher Enforcement Unit. The meat originated in Moshav Eshtual (מושב אשתאול) and distributed by the Tzachi Charina Sarusi Company LTD. (חברת צחי צ'רינה סרוסו בעמ).

A surprise inspection carried out by kosher and veterinary inspectors, with the latter being from the Health Ministry, in the factory owned by Mr. Almog Ben-Shalom, who operates under the name “Agnus Beef”, (business ID number 032995789), in Moshav Eshtual, revealed non-kosher meat marked “halal”, delivered from Palestinian Authority areas. The exact origin in the PA remains unknown. The factory operates in the confines of the Matte Yehuda Regional Council Rabbinate and does not have kosher supervision from the latter.

Forged kosher labels from a kosher meat operation in Holon were also found on premises along with other forged kashrus certification documents. As a result, the legitimately kosher operation in Holon, ב. בשר מעולה בעמ ( B. Baser Meuleh LTD) was instructed to change its labels and to add a hologram to its production.

All of the non-kosher meats were confiscated and destroyed along with all forged kosher documents and labels.
