South African Kosher Updates & Alerts August 2021

August 27, 2021: From South African Beth Din:

• Woolworths 100% Freshly Squeezed Citrus Juices are now approved Parev, without a BD logo. Orange, Clemengold, Grapefruit, Mandarin (all sizes)
   
  
• Cape Point Crumbed Hake Fish Fingers are kosher certified Parev, with a BD logo. *Important: NOT pas Yisrael and NOT Mehadrin. (Currently available only at Checkers)
   
  
• Doubleshot Chai Tea Concentrate is now kosher certified Parev, with or without a BD logo.
   
  
• Barco Sprinkle Mix range is now kosher certified Parev, with a BD logo. (See the BD website for full product list)
   
  
• Five Roses Honey Rooibos Tea is now kosher Parev, with or without a BD logo.
   
  
• Seltzer LITE Flavoured Sparkling Water in Cranberry Raspberry Lite and Lemon Lime Lite are now kosher Parev, with the BD logo
   
  
• Waxies Chubbies Candy-Coated Milk Chocolate Buttons are now kosher Dairy, with a BD logo.
   
  
• Moirs Instant Pudding flavours incorrectly bear the dairy logo, these are kosher Parev.
  **Important: the Reduced Sugar range is certified Dairy and correctly labelled.

• Pesto Princess “Butter” Chicken Sauce has also been re-certified as kosher Parev, with or without a BD logo, when bearing the production date of 14 June or later.
   
  
• Woolworths Strawberry & Mint Flavoured Syrup is missing the BD kosher logo. We have confirmed that this product is still kosher certified Parev, with or without the BD logo.
  **Important: In general, relevant Woolworths products must carry a reliable hechsher on the packaging. We are working with the company to get the logo reinstated on the packaging.
   
  
• Kosher Australia informed us that Milk Lab has been re-certified.
  Important: Please note the new kosher status.
  The following are certified Dairy, with or without a kosher logo.
  • Almond Milk
  • Soy Milk
  • Macadamia Milk Coconut Milk
  
   
  
• Peanut Butter sold by Promtrade Corporation Pty in South Africa under the brand Oh Nuts (not affiliated with the US company) bears an unauthorized OK symbol. This company and their products are not certified by OK Kosher Certification.
• Fry’s Pea Protein Mince bears our kosher logo and product is not yet certified. We are working with the company to try and certify this product.
   
  
• Nature's Buzz Peanut Butter range currently bears the unauthorised use of the BD logo and is not Kosher certified.
   
  
• Lattissimo Condensed Milk bears the unauthorised use of the BD logo and is not kosher certified.
   
  

Just a friendly reminder, while most products at Freshfellas are BD certified, the main shop is not exclusively under the supervision of the BD. Please check relevant products for the BD sign or other reliable hechsher. When purchasing checked vegetables, look out for the BD sign and the word, “checked.”
